La Tasca – Old Town, Alexandria

After a long day walking around The Cherry Blossoms in Washington, DC mama bear and I were starving. The thought of trying to park in DC again was cringe worthy so we headed to one of our favorite places to find food…Old Town, Alexandria. Full of life and vintage finds; Old Town is always a hit. On this particular day we went to La Tasca, a Spanish restaurant known for Tapas and Sangria; two of our favorite things.

We stopped into La Tasca on a Monday afternoon so we had the place almost to ourselves. But stop in on a Thursday/Friday and you’ll be enveloped in music, people, Flamenco Dancers, and Live Rumba! It’s like an escape to a catered sangria pouring party in Spain. The food was delicious, the drinks sublime, and the service impeccable. For drinks we ordered…

1. mango blackberry sangria

white wine, brandy, mango slices, blackberries

2. traditional sangria tinta

original sangria, red wine, sliced apples, oranges

For sides…

1. PATATAS BRAVAS

fried potatoes, spicy tomato sauce, aioli

2. ESPINACAS CON ARÁNDANOS

And for the main courses…

A tapas treasure chest of flavors. I never thought these “small dishes” would fill us… talk about your eyes being bigger than your stomach. We didn’t even finish these four fully and for only around $7 a plate was amazing. Now that we were stuffed, a sangria down, and almost ready for a nap, we decided to take a short walk around the town before heading out.

Walking around town visiting adorable shop fronts like Mint Condition is a sweet small trip on its own. Old Town is known for snuggling beautiful doors and hidden shops down every side street. So stop in for some tapas, sangria and a walk through a vintage treasure land. Old Town is waiting!DSC02039
