22 Blogger Tips Proven to Work

22 Blogger Tips Proven to Work

1.Stay inspired – walk through the woods, go to a art gallery, explore your city, get up and get out there. Getting on Pinterest does NOT count. You need full body and mind inspitation, time for that imagination to come through.

2. Keep track of all your ideas in one place – there’s nothing worse than trying to find that great idea you had last week about that one place with that one cool thing….Haha!! But you can’t remember because it’s on a tiny scrap of paper that fell under your book case last week. Keep it all in one place and organized, your future self will thank you.

3. Create a planner calendar – Use a printed out calendar to plan your posts for the month. It wasn’t until I planned posts ahead and knew what needed to be done each day that I really started to see results in page views.

4.Spelling! – there is almost nothing worse than trying to read a blog post and all you can focus on is misspelled words and grammar errors. I’m guilty of it too but it’s worth the time to take a2nd and3rd look. Or have another set of eyes to look it over.

5. Send a friendly hello – find a blogger you like and that inspires you and send them a quick email. The blogging world is enormous and very friendly, everyone likes a quick hello.

6. Twitter World – Twitter is quickly becoming the most used social media with constant interactions and connections being made. Take the time to reply to tweets and make new connections.

7. Share! – You’ve heard sharing is caring, well sharing it more views. At least 70% of my post views are from somewhere I’ve shared a post; emails, social media, 3rd party sites, etc.

8. Delete it – if you’ve been blogging for awhile and your stats are starting to pick up don’t be afraid to  redo a post  your logger beginning days. My first recipe photos were horrendous! It’s worth redoing and reintroducing to your readers.

9. Photo Prep – you know when you get really excited about writing and post and realize you don’t have any photos for the post, not even one to make a graphic with!? Use free stock photos. Check out my collection of places to find great stock photos for bloggers.

10. To Do List – Every morning I wake up, grab my pad of paper and a pen, put on my essential oil bracelet, and head downstairs to make a cup of tea. While I drink my tea I write my to do list for the day. It could be left overs from yesterday or starting fresh but knowing what you need to get done is a huge helper.

11. Write for yourself first – remember why you started your blog. Was it to inspire others? To show off your recipes? To help future designers or moms? No matter why you started, you are the one writing and putting in all the time and effort so remember to write about you truly like and enjoy and want to share with others. It shows in your writing.

12. Pop ups work – I know they’re annoying but honestly they work. Some people will put their email just to get rid of the pop up and your email list is golden. It’s your only list you can always personally contact.

13. Be true to your voice – have you ever read a blog post and almost felt uncomfortable reading it? That’s because the author was probably uncomfortable writing it. When you don’t stick to your own voice and try to how you feel it shows through in your writing.

14. Have a point – honestly when I get to a post from Pinterest for that delicious Brownie Recipe, I didn’t come to read 12 paragraphs on your baby bump, last weeks flat tire, next weeks vacation and your great aunt Betty’s crazy habits. I want to you made your recipe, how much you loved it and how delicious it is. I will completely skip your 900,000 words and go straight to the recipe or leave the post all together.

15. Design says a lot – take 30 min today and look at your header and side bar. Is it just so so? Do you have an updated Author photo, social accounts, and appealing graphics? Take a few hours one day to update what your readers first see when they arrive on your site. It’s worth it.

16. Don’t forget about guys – ladies aren’t the only ones reading blogs these days. Say you’re creating a recipe (maybe something like a Guinness Pizza) don’t jump into “lady talk” all the way, try and make posts that aren’t designated to the ladies a gender neutral post. Not something unbearable to the men folk.

17. Comment on other bloggers posts – Try and set a goal to comments on blog posts you like. Say 3-5 comments a day, do it first thing in the morning or just before winding down for the night, it’ll become habit.

18. Do your research – find out what topics and trends are working this season and write about it! Read  what works for big bloggers and try it out for yourself.

19.Give it all away – Are you an amazing chef, a genius groaning designer, an avid traveler!? Share your expertise. It may sound crazy to share all you knowledge but that’s what your readers want to read and they’ll love you and repay you for it.

20. Guest Post. Guest Post. Guest Post.

21. Invest in a good design – if you’re not a designer yourself its okay. This is something you’ll have to choose to invest in. Birthday, Christmas, some holiday when you get gifts coming up? Ask for a paid for graphic designer to help brand your blog!

22. Never Give Up – bloggers don’t become well known over night. Don’t give up if it’s something you truly love.
