Eatin Cheap in Myrtle Beach

Took a little road trip down to Myrtle Beach last weekend to visit family and friends. The weather was gorgeous, the company was awesome, and the beach day was something we had all been looking forward to for weeks. We left around 3a.m. and pulled into sunshine around 11a.m.; just in time to gracefully take shots and head out for some grub. With 6 working twenty something’s we wanted food fast, we wanted it cheap, and we wanted it delicious. With the best hosts we headed out to their local hotspots and the weekend long food coma began. One of our lovely hosts is a vegetarian so all these places have vegetarian options as well! Here’s the spots we hit while down south:

FOR THE CHIPOTLE EATERS:

Farlo’s Burrito Bar

When you first walk in, they let you know they mean business with their NO FREEZERS  sign.

The workers may take their time making your burrito but you’ll forget how long it took when you bite into that toddler sized, fresh deliciousness you just created. The steamed tortillas stick to your teeth in the best kind of way and you’ll start to second guess your Chipotle obsession. OH and THEY SERVE BEER. You’re welcome.

FOR THE DRINKS WITH LUNCH:

Margaritaville Landshark Bar and Grill

When you’re having a beach day, the last thing you want to do is head inside to a cold restaurant…so where to eat without missing out on the rays and drinks? Margaritaville Landshark Bar and Grill located at the base of the SkyWheel (you can’t miss it) offers outside beach view and a whole separate drink menu to continue your tropical day. The menu has a variety of options for anyones hunkering but the fish tacos, and catch of the sandwich were top notch.

FOR THE AFTER BAR EATS:

Cookout

When you’re leaving the bar and you realize you’re “the hungriest you’ve ever been in your entire life” if you’re a Carolinian you think COOKOUT. Super cheap and late night worthy. Curtis got a burger, a chicken quesadilla, fries, and a shake for just 5.69. McDonalds looks like a box of soggy fries compared to this place. To make it even better, the workers are serious gems. Our gorgeous host Emily dropped her ring and before the rest of us noticed, an employee was already on his hands and knees and moving furniture looking with an industrial flash light…and found it! I’ll be honest, I’m glad these don’t exist in Maryland because I would be a 5’3 manatee waddling around. Over all cheap, good, fast, and late night worthy.

FOF THE BEFORE THE ROAD SUPER FILL UP:

Jade Hibachi

A 7 hour drive is not something anyone looks forward too, especially if its heading away from the beach and back to work. But before you start any trek, its always best to fill up first; and Jade Hibachi is the place to do it. I overdid it on the rice and chicken consumption but simply typing that makes me hungry again. I should of known better than to eat my weight in rice but I just couldn’t stop with that yumyum sauce! Did matter much since it was one of those meals where you eat for 30 minutes and looks like you haven’t taken a single bite. This is the place I wish was next door to me all through college.

All in all it was a memorable and fun trip. Good food, great views, and even better people. Thank you so much Joey and Emily for hosting us and taking us all around. Myrtle beach is undeniably the hip spot for beach goers, tourists, green to black lovers, and Carolina locals. Wish we could of stayed longer but it was wonderful to get a taste…

HAPPY WANDERING
