6 Guinness Recipes you have to try this St. Patrick’s Day

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS. PLEASE READ MY DISCLOSURE FOR MORE INFO.

St. Patty’s day is one of those super fun holidays because you don’t have to go anywhere (except to a bar), you don’t have to buy anyone anything, Lucky Charms are a totally acceptable breakfast, and its a celebration full of dancing, drinking and eating. What could be better!?

March 17, commemorates the death of St. Patrick, who was credited for bringing Christianity to the Irish people. He explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) using the Shamrock (three leaf clover) and this became a sort of Irish symbolism brought out on St. Patrick’s Day.

Then like most things, American’s took the tradition of the Irish American Heritage celebration and turned it into a commercialized drunken green explosion of leprechauns and green beer. While I love how we Go Big or Go Home with everything in America, I think it’s important for people to remember where the tradition started and what it means to the Irish people.

So where does Guinness play into all of this? Did St. Patrick drink Guinness? Well no not exactly. Arthur Guinness crafted this delicious beer in Dublin in 1759 and it has since become the signature beer correlated with Ireland. And it’s brewed in over 150 countries! I visited Ireland in high school with my family, where we visited the St. James Gate Guinness factory in Dublin. I think that was the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on my dads face. Now as an “adult” with a deep love and appreciation for beer, heading back to Ireland and the factory is back on the bucket list. So since we’re going all out Guinness, Green, and American Style Partying on this great holiday, try one (or several) of these Guinness recipes this St. Patrick’s Day!  “To Arthur!!”
